Mercer Mettl pricing in 2026: what it actually costs
The short answer
Mercer Mettl does not publish a price. Every path on mettl.com ends at "Get quote now!" or a demo form, and its public licence agreement defers contract length, renewal and credit expiry to a private Order document. The one clean third-party figure we could verify, ₹45,000 a year, is for Mettl 360 View, a different product. You have to ask.
That is not a gap in our research. It is the pricing model. Below is every source we checked and exactly what each one says, so you can see the wall for yourself.
01Every price we could find, and where it came from
Nine sources, checked on 2 August 2026. Two print a number. Neither is usable, and the reasons are in the third column. This is the whole picture, blanks included.
| Source | Price as printed | What it really is | Checked |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mercer Mettl's own pricing page | Not published | Heading: "Customised plan as per your organisation". Offers a phone number and a "Get quote now!" button. No figure of any kind. | 2026-08-02 |
| Mercer Mettl's US pricing page | Not published | "Tailored pricing plans" and "pay as you go". At what rate is not stated. | 2026-08-02 |
| SoftwareSuggest, Mercer Mettl 360 View | ₹45,000 / year | The only clean, dated, unit-bearing figure anywhere. But it is 360 View, the feedback product, not the hiring platform. Do not budget screening off it. | 2026-08-02 |
| SelectHub | $99 | "Starting From: $99", model "Usage-Based, Freemium". Per what, and as of when, is not stated. A price with no unit cannot go in a budget. | 2026-08-02 |
| PricingNow | $15 per attempt | Attached to a "Starter" plan Mettl does not name anywhere, with no source cited. The wording recurs across aggregator pages. We would not plan around it. | 2026-08-02 |
| Capterra, Mercer Mettl Coding Assessments | Not published | "Contact vendor for pricing". Free trial yes, free version no. Listing dated February 2026. | 2026-08-02 |
| Techjockey | Price On Request | India's largest software directory, in Mettl's home market, and even it has no figure. | 2026-08-02 |
| Software Advice | Not published | "Starting price: Connect with an advisor for pricing" and "Pricing available upon request". | 2026-08-02 |
| ITQlick | Not published | States it outright: "there are no standard monthly or yearly license costs per user publicly available." Reviewed June 2026. | 2026-08-02 |
Nine sources, one usable figure, and that figure is for the wrong product. If you have been searching for a Mercer Mettl price and finding nothing, you were not searching badly. There is nothing to find. You cannot check a Mettl quote against a list price, because there is no list price. All you can bring to the call is what the same volume costs elsewhere, which is section 04.
02What the price does not include
With no published plan there is no published inclusion list either, so these are things to confirm in writing rather than known exclusions. Each is a separate named Mettl product.
Proctoring
Remote proctoring, SecureProctor and the Mettl Secure Browser are their own product lines with their own directory listings, separate from Talent Assessments and Coding Assessments. Whether proctoring sits inside your assessment price or on top of it is not published anywhere. Ask for it as a line item.
Which assessment families are in scope
Talent, Coding, Psychometric, Aptitude, Technical, Communication Skills, Sales and Behavioural are listed as distinct products. A quote for one is not a quote for the library. Confirm which test families the price covers and what adding another costs.
The examination and certification platform
The Examination Platform, Online Certification Platform and hackathon products are separate again. If you buy for hiring and later want to run certification, expect a second commercial conversation rather than an upgrade.
Anything the Order does not say
The public licence agreement repeatedly defers to "the Order", the private contract you sign. Term length, renewal behaviour, credit expiry and volume minimums all live there and none are public. Read the Order, not the website.
03The contract terms, in their words
The public licence agreement is short on commercial terms by design, and what it does say is worth reading before a first call. The four clauses that affect money, quoted exactly.
Licence agreement, section 17.5 (trial)
“If you have been granted a thirty (30) day trial, your access will automatically terminate at the end of the Trial Period or the utilization of the Trial Credits, whichever occurs first.”
Licence agreement, section 17.5 (refunds)
“If it has been more than thirty (30) days since the Materials has been made available to you and you have not accessed it, no refunds will be provided.”
Licence agreement, section 17.5 (early exit)
“In the event you terminate the Order for convenience prior to the end of the Term (as defined in the Order), you may be required to pay termination fees to the extent provided in such Order.”
Licence agreement, section 17.5 (acceptance)
“ACCESSING THIS INFORMATION EITHER THROUGH ONLINE ACCESS, PDF, XLS, CSV OR MDB MEANS THAT YOU HAVE ACCEPTED DELIVERY OF YOUR ASSESSMENT AND THE TERMS OF THIS LICENSE AGREEMENT AND THAT YOU AGREE TO PAY THE INVOICE.”
In plain words: there is a term, leaving early can cost a termination fee, and the length of that term is not public. Opening a report counts as accepting delivery and agreeing to pay the invoice, so the moment someone downloads a result the commercial position is settled. The document never says what happens to unused credits at the end of a term, which for a credit-based product is the most expensive thing to leave unwritten. Get it into the Order.

04What it works out to for three sizes of buyer
We cannot work out what Mettl costs, because Mettl has not said. What we can do is work out what the same three volumes cost at the cheapest vendor here that does publish a rate, so you go into the call with a floor rather than nothing.
How these were worked out. The benchmark is Equip at ₹95 per candidate per test, read off equip.co/pricing on 2 August 2026. One test per candidate, which is the cheapest realistic case; a four-part screen is four times these figures. Equip's volume discounts start at 500 credits, so none of these qualify. A yardstick, not a Mettl quote.
| Buyer | What they pay | Per candidate |
|---|---|---|
| One role, 10 candidatesA single engineering opening, one screen each | ₹950 at the published benchmark | ₹95, about $1. Mettl: unknown |
| Small team, 50 candidatesTwo or three roles running over a quarter | ₹4,750 at the published benchmark | ₹95, about $1. Mettl: unknown |
| Agency or campus, 200 candidatesVolume screening across a hiring season | ₹19,000 at the published benchmark | ₹95, about $1. Mettl: unknown |
If a quote comes back far above that line and the extra is proctoring and psychometrics you do not need, price the plain version of the job first. Our multiple-choice screening is free for five tests a month and it will not answer a campus-hiring brief, which is exactly what Mettl is built for.
05When Mercer Mettl is the right choice
Quote-only pricing is a real cost, and still not a reason to rule Mettl out. It does jobs the cheap, transparent end of this market cannot.
High-volume campus hiring in India
Campus hiring, lateral hiring and hackathons are first-class products here, at a scale where a few thousand candidates in a weekend is routine. If you are hiring a graduate intake rather than filling one seat, pay-as-you-go tools are the wrong shape and a negotiated volume contract is the right one.
Certification and high-stakes examinations
The Examination Platform, SecureProctor and the Mettl Secure Browser exist because some assessments have to survive a challenge. If a result decides a licence, a certification or an admission, browser lockdown and live proctoring are not optional, and very few cheaper tools offer them at all.
Psychometrics with a research house behind them
Behavioural, psychometric and 360-degree instruments are Mercer's core business, not a feature bolted onto a coding platform. If your process has to stand up to an occupational psychologist or a works council, where the instrument came from matters more than the price of a seat.
06Cheaper or simpler options
If what you need is a straight number you can budget against today, these publish one. Ours is the last row and it is also the least complete product on the list, which we would rather say here than let you discover after paying.
| Tool | Price | Billing model | The catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Equip | ₹95, about $1, per candidate per test | Prepaid credits, no contract, India first | Per test, not per candidate. No campus-scale proctoring of the kind Mettl sells |
| TestGorilla | $1,704 a year (Core) | Twelve month contract, paid annually in advance | Non-refundable, credits expire at term end, ATS integrations need the $4,800 tier |
| HackerRank | $990 a year, or $99 a month | Attempt allowance, monthly or annual | 60 attempts a year on the entry plan, then $20 each. Engineering roles only |
| TestDome | $20 down to $7 per candidate | Prepaid packs of invites, no subscription | The $7 rate needs a 600 candidate pack bought up front |
| Journey Uncommon | Free for 5 tests a month, then ₹499 | Monthly, cancel any time, no annual lock | Multiple choice only. No proctoring at all, no secure browser, no psychometrics, which is most of what Mettl is for |
Where Journey Uncommon fits, honestly
Cheapest row in that table, and the least complete. Multiple choice only, no coding sandbox, no ATS integration, no webcam proctoring, and proctoring is not on the roadmap. If you need any of that, buy one of the others.
07Mercer Mettl pricing questions
How much does Mercer Mettl cost?
There is no public answer. As of 2 August 2026, Mercer Mettl publishes no price on mettl.com in any region, and eight third-party directories either say "contact vendor" or print a figure with no unit and no date. You have to request a quote. The only clean dated third-party figure we found was ₹45,000 a year on SoftwareSuggest, and that is for Mettl 360 View, the 360-degree feedback product, not the hiring assessment platform.
Does Mercer Mettl publish pricing anywhere?
No. Both mettl.com/pricing and mettl.com/en-us/pricing exist and neither carries a figure. The Indian page heading is "Customised plan as per your organisation" and offers a phone number; the US page says "Tailored pricing plans" and "pay as you go" without stating the rate. Every route ends at "Get quote now!", "Book a demo" or "Request a consultation today!".
Is there a Mercer Mettl free trial?
The licence agreement refers to one. Section 17.5 says that if you have been granted a thirty day trial, access ends at the end of the trial period or when the trial credits run out, whichever comes first. How many trial credits you get is not published, so ask before planning a pilot around it. Capterra's listing also records a free trial and no free version.
How long is a Mercer Mettl contract?
Not published. The licence agreement refers to "the Term (as defined in the Order)", so the length lives in the private contract you sign rather than on the website. It also says terminating for convenience before the end of that term may mean paying termination fees. Get the term length and the exit terms in writing before signing.
Is Mercer Mettl cheaper than TestGorilla?
Nobody outside the two companies can answer that honestly, and anyone who does is guessing. TestGorilla publishes $1,704 a year for Core; Mettl publishes nothing. Comparing a known number to an unknown one produces an answer that feels informative and is not. What you can do is take TestGorilla's published annual figure, and the per-candidate rates from the pay-as-you-go vendors, into the Mettl call as a benchmark.
